Really chuffed to have inspired the transformation of this bedroom. Homeward were asked to help choose & supply fabric to reupholster a well loved vintage Parker Knoll wing back chair. It turned out that this lovely fabric was the starting point and ended up inspiring the colour scheme and redecoration of the whole room! A lovely project! See Debs words below…..
So, I love my Victorian house but when my ceiling collapsed in October just as we were reaching peak season on sales (we do nightwear and everyone wants PJs in the Autumn) *and* we were crowdfunding investment for the business it was a pretty intense time. One of the things that made me really sad was that my grandmother’s old chair was ruined. I didn’t know what to do or how to get it fixed so I spoke to my friend Nicky Hancock who has a wonderful business called Homeward .She basically came round collected the chair, showed me some fabrics designed by British textile designers and then left me be. I wasn’t sure which fabric to go for but I loved a woodcut of some birds. It reminded me of the woodcuts I used to do when I did my degree in textiles so I parked that fabric visually somewhere in the back of my brain while the builders, decorators etc came and did their thing. I think subconsciously it made an impression because months later I realised I’d actually re-designed the room around the fabric swatch. And that the woodcut of the birds was perfect. The chair has arrived today – a wonderful mix of a classic Parker Knoll shape with the stunning bird garden fabric. Nicky even brought flowers she’d picked from her garden too. It’s so perfect. I think my grandma would have been really delighted. I know I am.
