JG Pottery at Homeward
Each piece is thrown, turned and glazed by hand by potter Jim Green at his Bristol studio.
His work is a modern and contemporary take on the classic British pottery of Denby and
Hornsea and takes influence from Scandinavian and German ceramics of the 1960s and
70s. I like that his work is influenced and inspired by this era. He clearly loves colour and texture,
which you can see in his bands of coloured glazes, but Jim uses these in a more restrained
way. His work has a pared down, modern rustic aesthetic rather than the crazy fat lava
glazes on ceramics of the 1960s and 70s. There’s something homely, tactile and familiar about Jim’s pottery.
